Being aggressive and fearless, even heedless, are attractive because they are a less refined outgrowth of the qualities women need and want. They can veer in a bad direction, or a good one.
There is no need for psychobabble to explain why women prefer bad boys. Since the answer is quite simple. When it comes to choosing a sex partner men and women are very much alike: men think with their little head while women think with their clitoris. And once a man or woman is smitten all rational thought goes out the window.
